Derrell Cox
Rooted in ranch life. Built on patience, feel, and a strong foundation.
Born and raised in Winnsboro, Texas, Derrell has spent more than 50 years in the saddle. He started his first colt at age 12 and went on to train hundreds of horses, building a lifetime of knowledge in Western horsemanship, ranching, and working cattle.
Bar C Ranch’s family legacy began in 1953, when Derrell’s grandfather, Thomas Lewis Cox, purchased the land. Derrell began breeding and raising his own horses there in 2009. Today, he and Brenda raise AQHA Quarter Horses and cattle, carrying that tradition forward.
Safety comes first
Understand the horse, respect the animal, and learn to communicate with it. Derrell’s approach builds confidence through patience, feel, timing, and a strong foundation.
